Dark thoughts

I wanted to try some HDR magic for some dramatic lighting and shading, this is how it came out.  Anyone know why my subject's outline is still noticeable?  I bordered and blurred the edges, feathered them, and even tried to sneak in the color around him.  To me he still appears sharp and noticeable around his edges.
